Natural Resources staff presented a set of items the board approved. The board accepted a quote to produce 30,000 white pine seedlings for delivery in 2026; staff said seedling orders must be placed a year in advance so nurseries can grow stock. Staff estimated planting density of about 700–800 trees per acre, noting the order would cover roughly 50–60 acres with typical 8‑by‑8 spacing; the board voted to accept the quote.
Commissioners approved resolutions to sponsor three local clubs so they can continue to receive state trail funding. The county will act as a governmental sponsor/fiscal agent for the Northwoods Riders OHV Club (northern Hubbard County), the Paul Bunyan Forest Riders OHM Club (near Akeley) and the Timberland Dirt Veil ATV Club (also near Akeley). Staff said the sponsorship carries no county cost but is required for clubs to access state funds.
Natural Resources staff also presented terms and appraised values for a Feb. 21, 2025 tax‑forfeited land auction; the board authorized the sale and the auction date. Staff said 18 tracts will be offered—16 are reoffers reduced to minimum bids, and two are newly forfeited parcels that must be offered within statutory timelines; staff explained that unsold parcels after two offerings generally revert under state statute and that some sliver/roadside parcels may remain over‑the‑counter if auction bids are not forthcoming.
All items were approved by the board on voice votes.
