Plano schedules May 3 election for four council seats and a bond; candidate filing opens Jan. 15

Steve Stoler, host, announced that the City of Plano will hold an election on Saturday, May 3, that will include four city council races — including the mayor’s seat — and a bond measure.
Stoler said the first day for candidates to file is Wednesday, Jan. 15, and that Friday, Feb. 14, is the last day to file. He listed early voting from April 22 through April 29.
Stoler described the council contests on the ballot as places 2, 4, 6 and 8 and identified place 6 as the mayor’s race. He also said, within the same announcement, that "all places are elected at large" and that "candidates for places 24 must live in those districts," language that is internally inconsistent as delivered.
Stoler said all candidates must be qualified Texas voters and Plano residents for at least one year.
The announcement closed with Stoler saying, "We'll see you soon for another Stoler on the Street."
