The committee recommended approval of Change Order No. 7 for Evergreen Junior High School in the amount of $159,209.46 to replace windows and doors on the west side of the music shop building and add HVAC to the music shop; funding was described as $89,323.67 from FEMA reimbursement and $69,885.79 from local funds. Contractor representative Mister Bigree told the committee that the pricing had been reviewed and recommended approval.
The committee also recommended approval of Change Order No. 1 for the Fletcher Building for $96,714 to add standing seam roof panels, with FEMA funds of $87,042.60 and local funds of $9,671.40 described as the funding sources.
At South Terrebonne High School, the committee recommended approval of two change orders: Change Order No. 5 for $47,942.31 to remove and replace damaged quarry tile and mud beds in locker rooms and restrooms (FEMA $43,148.79; local $4,794.23) and Change Order No. 6 for $238,403.80 to replace all windows in the main building with large-missile-impact windows; Change Order No. 6 was described as funded from the building fund.
Officials explained that additional damage became apparent as buildings dried and that some replacements — including mud beds and quarry tile — were necessary to prevent future failures. Committee members asked questions about what work FEMA would cover versus owner-requested replacements, the safety advantages of fixed, impact-rated windows, and whether the district had insurance avenues to offset costs.
Informational updates included a report that the Montague Elementary and Montague Middle project was substantially complete as of a Nov. 20 site visit, with only minor punch-list items remaining, and that the interior/exterior painting contract for Legion Park Elementary and the IT annex had been substantially completed with a final inspection pending (the contractor reported the substantial completion date was Dec. 18 but holidays delayed final signoff). The committee also received a progress report on South Terrebonne High School repairs including chillers installed on the 13th of the month, ongoing duct and piping work, ceiling and fire-alarm installation, and that the contractor's contractual completion date is Dec. 28, though staff said they hope to occupy classrooms earlier.
Committee members voiced support for completing necessary repairs and for pursuing available FEMA reimbursement; one member urged exploration of insurance recovery to offset costs. All change orders were recommended by the committee to the full board; no roll-call votes were recorded in committee.
