The Minnesota House of Representatives adjourned after officials determined a quorum was not present and set the next convening for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025, the Clerk Pro Tem said. "There being no quorum under the constitution of the state of Minnesota, the house is adjourned until 03:30PM Tuesday, February fourth 20 25," the Clerk Pro Tem declared.
The session opened with a chaplain's prayer delivered by Reverend Sarah Morse of Hazel Park Congregational United Church of Christ in Saint Paul. Members then recited the pledge of allegiance and the Clerk Pro Tem closed the roll before announcing the adjournment. The clerk had earlier indicated the Chaplain for the day and asked members to remain standing for the pledge.
No legislative business or votes were taken during the brief sitting. The adjournment was explicitly tied to the absence of a quorum under the Constitution of the State of Minnesota; the transcript records no motions, votes, or additional directions taken before the session ended. The House will reconvene at the time specified by the Clerk Pro Tem.
