The Buildings, Food Service and Transportation Committee of Terrebonne Parish Schools reviewed the results of the district's triennial school wellness survey and was told the overall average evaluation across six measured categories was 87%.
Miss Walters, who presented the item, said the survey covers six categories: commitment to nutrition and physical activity, quality school meals, other healthy food options, nutrition education and marketing, with each school rated as meeting, partially meeting or not meeting policy requirements. Walters said the wellness policy was revised in January 2024 to include a requirement for 15 minutes of daily physical activity for students in kindergarten through fifth grade and that staff prepared a question-and-answer document for school administrators to help implement the policy.
Board members thanked Walters for the work. No formal committee action was recorded on the wellness survey at the meeting; the item was presented as an informational update. The committee discussion did not specify individual school-level scores beyond the overall average.
Committee members asked clarifying questions; none requested additional data at the time. The presentation will remain part of the district's record as staff continues implementation and support for administrators.
