The Village of Cross Plains Sustainability Committee approved its previous meeting minutes with corrections and approved a resolution to suspend mowing at 1601 Bourbon Road — the lot associated with the planned new village hall — during its Dec. 18, 2024 meeting.
Committee members corrected the draft minutes to fix spellings and attendee listings, including confirming the name Andy Hartman and correcting Jen’s last name to Wankerl. After the corrections were read into the record, a committee member moved to approve the minutes as amended; another member seconded the motion. The chair called for a voice vote and committee members responded “aye.” The chair then stated that the minutes were approved.
Later in the meeting the committee considered a resolution — similar to one it prepared the previous year — to suspend mowing on the parcel at 1601 Bourbon Road until June 1. A committee member moved to approve the resolution, a second was recorded, and members voted by voice; the chair announced the motion passed and that the resolution would be forwarded to the village board for action. Committee discussion noted that acting earlier in the year would improve outreach and the timing for yard signs and other public messaging.
Committee members said the special village board meeting on Jan. 13, 2025, will be a likely opportunity to place the resolution on a village board agenda. The committee expects that, if approved by the village board, enforcement and signage (including “no‑mow” yard signs) would be timed to align with the growing season and related village communications.
Votes at a glance: The committee recorded voice votes; no roll‑call tallies were read aloud. The committee chair announced approval for both the amended minutes and the no‑mow resolution with no recorded opposition.
