Committee approves booster-funded expansion of baseball concession window, asks for structural sign-off and insurance

The Facilities Committee of the Waunakee Community School District approved a booster-funded modification to the baseball concession stand that would expand the existing 3-foot serving window to roughly 6 feet, contingent on structural review and proof of insurance.
A representative of the baseball boosters said the group requested a larger window to improve concession operations and that the boosters are prepared to pay for all materials. The representative said a husband who works as a mason superintendent for a contractor has offered to perform or coordinate the work and that the booster club can obtain a quote from a district special-projects team if preferred.
District staff said the committee is willing to assist with locating the supplier and overseeing the project but that the district will need a structural-engineering sign-off and the worker(s) to provide insurance credentials before permitting on-site work. "If you can provide the structural issue and insurance, then we can help them with the supplier," a staff member said during the discussion.
Committee members discussed whether the newly installed 3-foot window had been used in a full season and raised the need for the district to avoid managing day-to-day contractor details; staff said the district can oversee but prefers a turnkey arrangement if the boosters contract work. After the conditions were stated — structural sign-off and insurance — the committee approved the request by voice vote; no opposing votes were recorded.
The committee also advised the boosters to obtain a quote from the district's special-projects group or to provide contractor credentials and insurance documentation to move forward.
