Facilities committee approves three small maintenance projects, including Door 12 flooring repair

The Facilities Committee of the Waunakee Community School District approved three small maintenance projects that had been listed on the district maintenance tracker.

The projects — described by staff as work on the baseball fields, repair of flooring at Door 12 where ceramic tile had lifted, and additional door repairs at the high school — were presented as routine repairs and grouped in the tracker under the repair category rather than as new capital additions. Committee members moved and approved the three items by voice vote; no opposing votes were recorded.

Staff described the Door 12 item as a tripping hazard caused by popped tile and recommended replacing the area with carpet tile as a lower-cost, safer solution. The baseball-field item and the high-school door repairs were presented as repair-category work; staff noted that some items flagged by principals remain in the maintenance tracker for transparency but will be vetted further during the district’s prioritization process.

Committee members asked a few clarifying questions about where items were categorized and about the tracking spreadsheet; staff said Scott and Allie had updated completion dates in the tracker and that the top portion of the spreadsheet will be revised next month to reflect reconciliation work with Vogel, which reviewed several projects in December.

The committee recorded the staff updates and approved the three repairs, with staff to proceed under the district’s normal procurement and scheduling processes.
