Council approves first readings to annex two Long Avenue Extension properties for city utility access

The Conway City Council voted unanimously on Feb. 3 to approve first readings of two annexation ordinances that would bring two single-family properties on Long Avenue Extension into the city and rezone them to allow connection to city utilities.
Planning staffer Ms. Wilkerson told the council that the application for the 1.4-acre parcel at 2837 Long Avenue Extension was submitted so the existing house could connect to city services; staff recommended approval of the first reading. "The annexation application was submitted as a requirement to connect to city services," Wilkerson said.
Council member Mister White moved approval of the first reading for that ordinance; the motion was seconded and carried by a unanimous voice vote.
A second ordinance, for roughly 0.92 acres at 4154 Long Avenue Extension, was presented by Wilkerson. Staff said that annexation was filed by the personal representative of a deceased property owner to change the name on the utility account; an existing single-family home sits on that parcel and staff recommended approval. The council approved the first reading of that ordinance by a unanimous voice vote.
Both items were presented as first readings; further votes or final readings required by the council's ordinance schedule will occur in later meetings.
