High school art students create maps, photo boards and face-painting stations for Dunstable JingleFest

John Hughes, chair of the JingleFest Committee in Dunstable, told the Groton‑Dunstable Regional School District School Committee on Jan. 22 that members of the National Art Honor Society and other high‑school art students volunteered at the district’s Dec. 7 JingleFest.
Hughes said the students produced four large maps — roughly 6 feet across — that were installed downtown to help attendees find events and view schedules, created two “stand‑in” photo boards for family pictures, and staffed a busy face‑painting area. "We had a record turnout this year. We had over 500 people attend," Hughes said, adding that about 20 to 30 students helped with painting and poster work and six or seven students served as face painters.
Committee members thanked Hughes and the students. A committee official noted the slides of student work would be shared on the district’s channels and in the newsletter so community members who could not view them at the meeting could see the photos.
The committee encouraged other community organizations to notify the district when students do volunteer work so the district can recognize those efforts at future meetings.
No formal action was taken on the item; the presentation was an informational recognition of volunteer work by district students.
