County approves bid award for chemical identification meter and agrees to advertise Hickory Hills wastewater replacement

Williams County commissioners voted on two procurement items: approval of a recommendation to award a bid for a multi-chemical identification meter and authorization to advertise for bids on a wastewater treatment plant replacement project.

Staff told the board that Resolution 33 concerned "project 9 of 24," a multi-chemical identification meter procurement. A staff member said a letter of recommendation from April (staff) recommended awarding the bid to Agilent Technologies. After a motion and second, the board approved the award; the motion carried.

Separately, commissioners moved to advertise for bids on the Hickory Hills (referred to earlier in the record also as McGreehills) wastewater treatment plant replacement, project 2 of 25, with bid opening scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Commissioners and staff discussed whether to delay the advertisement so county engineer Todd could confirm funding; staff clarified that advertising and receiving bids does not obligate the county to accept any bid and that the board may open bids and then decide not to proceed. The board voted to advertise the project; staff will proceed with the public notice and set the bid-opening date shown on the agenda.

Both procurement moves were conducted on the record with motions, seconds and roll-call confirmations; the minutes show the motions carried. County staff will follow the usual bid-opening and award process if bids are received, and funding confirmations will be resolved before any contract award for the wastewater project.
