Commissioners agree to recognize county employee who used Narcan and recommend broader acknowledgement of first responders

At the Feb. 3 meeting, commissioners supported a request from Veterans Services leadership to formally recognize a county employee who administered naloxone (Narcan) during a street incident and helped save a life. The employee performed the action while conducting outreach and not as part of routine emergency duties.
Commissioner Linde and other commissioners said the case deserved a certificate of recognition, and they directed staff to prepare an agenda item that would both honor the individual and acknowledge the many first responders who regularly administer naloxone and other life‑saving interventions across the county.
