At the Jan. 14 meeting the Pierce County Council elected its 2025 leadership slate and appointed a council member to the Joint Municipal Action Committee (JMAAC).
Council member Robin Denson moved the slate that nominated Council member Jani Hitchen for chair, Council member Paul Herrera for vice chair, and Council member Robin Denson for executive pro tem. The council approved the slate by voice vote.
The council then appointed Council member Rosie Ayala to serve as the county’s representative on the Joint Municipal Action Committee, a multi-agency cooperative body that includes Tacoma-centric governmental partners and focuses on cross-jurisdictional items such as youth programs and capital-project coordination. The motion to appoint Ayala carried by voice vote.
Why it matters: The elected leadership sets committee assignments and meeting management for the year; JMAAC is a forum for intergovernmental coordination on shared priorities such as youth programming and capital project alignment.
Closing Council members welcomed newly seated District 5 representative Brian Yambi and said staff will follow with onboarding and notification for committee assignments and intergovernmental appointments.
