The King County Board of Health on Jan. 16 elected Theresa Mosqueda to continue as chair for 2025, selected two vice chairs and adopted a formal resolution setting the order in which vice chairs may act in the absence of the chair.
Board member Dunn nominated Mosqueda for chair; the nomination was seconded and passed by voice vote. Kiana Daniels was nominated and reelected to serve as vice chair representing non‑elected members; Amy Lam was nominated and elected to serve as vice chair representing city and county elected officials. Both vice‑chair nominations were seconded and approved by voice vote; each election recorded one abstention in the roll call/voice vote record as noted on the meeting record.
The board then considered Resolution 2501, “a resolution designating the order in which the vice chairs of the King County Board of Health may act in the absence of the chair in 2025.” The motion to adopt Resolution 2501 was moved and seconded and passed by roll call vote with 15 ayes, 0 nos; Board Member Hollingsworth was recorded as excused. The clerk read a roll call of votes; the meeting transcript records the following ayes in the roll call: Barron, Dunn, Kettle, Nelson, Lam, Raikes, DeCastro, Chu, Gudgel, Daniels, Mohammed, Archiapoli, Liu, Williams and Mosqueda.
Earlier in the meeting the board voted to approve its Nov. 21, 2024 minutes. Vice Chair Daniels moved approval; the motion was seconded and passed. The transcript shows two abstentions recorded during the minutes vote (the record includes “Julian will abstain” and “Board member Williams abstain”) and the minutes were adopted.
Board leadership and the resolution set the procedural order of the board for 2025; no other policy decisions were made as part of these votes.
