Choctaw County commissioners authorized staff to submit an application for a Rebuild Alabama Act grant to repair and widen Mosley Bridal Road (from Marytown Road to Carlisle Road), a stretch estimated at about 1.12 miles.
The county engineer provided a preliminary project estimate of about $478,000 and said an approximate $100,000 local match would be required. Commissioners noted they had strong letters of support from state contacts. The engineer also said part of the project includes widening the road.
Commissioner Mosley (requesting the application) and county staff said timing is tight: the county must have another contract awarded before applying for this project, and award dates are forthcoming. Commissioner Mosley and the engineer asked for permission to proceed with application work and matching‑fund planning; the commission approved the request on a motion by Commissioner Mose and seconded by Commissioner Doggett.
Ending: Staff will proceed with the application and assemble the estimated matching funds and supporting documentation before the grant deadline.
