Clallam County commissioners approve consent items, two grants and three-year Esri subscription

The Clallam County Commission on Jan. 21 approved a multi-item consent agenda, accepted two state grant actions and authorized a three-year Esri Enterprise software purchase, with all motions passing by unanimous voice vote.
The approved consent agenda included routine financial and appointment items. The commission approved vouchers for the week of Jan. 13; payroll for the pay period ending Dec. 31, 2024; and minutes for the week of Jan. 13. The board also approved a resolution reappointing Sherry Tinker to the Peninsula Housing Authority Board of Commissioners; a resolution appointing Cindy Kelly, Julie Loeberry and Carrie Martinez Haley to the Fair Advisory Board; and a resolution appointing Chris Burns and Robert Knapp and reappointing Mary Sue Brancato to the Marine Resources Committee. The consent agenda also included a public notice calling for proposals and qualifications for 2025 homeless program funding, due March 3, 2025, at 3 p.m., and a resolution initiating county road project CRP c126 (Old Olympic Highway resurfacing).
The commission approved a contract acceptance for the Stop Violence Against Women formula grant through the Washington State Department of Commerce. The award for calendar year 2025 totals $16,901 and is a reimbursable grant; the county will provide the required match through the salaries and benefits of participating law enforcement personnel from the sheriff’s office and the Port Angeles and Sequim police departments.
Separately, the commission approved an amendment to a Washington Department of Ecology local solid-waste financial assistance agreement covering July 2023–June 2025. Staff reported that the county deobligated $45,000 from Task 1 (moderate-risk solid-waste collection and management) because a hazardous-collection event in Forks generated lower-than-expected volumes and disposal costs. The amendment formally reduces the county’s Task 1 obligation; staff said the deobligation may be made available for other eligible solid-waste activities under the grant cycle.
The board also authorized a three-year Esri Enterprise software subscription and maintenance purchase order; the item was described as year one of a three-year agreement and required board signature because it exceeded the county administrator’s signature authority.
All motions were moved and seconded and approved by voice vote with commissioners saying “aye.” Meeting minutes record the items as approved unanimously.
The commission closed the meeting following general public comment and scheduled several committee meetings later in the week.
