Event center staff recommend renewing longtime rodeo volunteer; boards described as advisory and hands‑on

She said the rodeo board is more hands‑on, helping with ground maintenance, welding, equipment repair and arena operations; the fair board typically focuses on higher‑level fair production and sponsorships.
Why this matters: The boards provide long‑standing volunteer support for county events and handle many operational tasks that help reduce county staff workload and event costs. Bocat recommended reappointing Phil Murray to the rodeo board; commissioners indicated support for the renewal.
Bocat encouraged residents who want to help to attend meetings even if they do not seek a seat on the board: "It's always appreciated when people that apply actually come to some of the meetings or they've had some sort of involvement in the fair and the rodeo," she said.
