Public Works reports completion of monitoring‑well relocation, new on‑call electrical contract and forthcoming water‑meter award

John Roehwe, Cowlitz County Public Works, reported to commissioners on Feb. 3 that monitoring wells at the Tenant Way Landfill were relocated as part of an upcoming property sale and that the relocation costs will be reimbursed by the Port of Longview.
Roehwe told the board the relocation is completed and that the sale process remains in progress: "Those are in place completed, and we're still moving forward with that sale process," he said, adding the Port of Longview will reimburse the county for those costs as part of the property sale arrangement.
Roehwe also presented a follow‑up on an earlier procurement: the county has an on‑call electrical services agreement with Core Solutions to provide work on an as‑needed basis, capped at $100,000. "This is the first year doing an on call contract like this. I don't anticipate exhausting it fully," he said.
Public services staff also confirmed an item for the board’s agenda: Savannah Clement said a water‑meter procurement award will be on the board’s agenda for the following day, and that the eventual contract amount is expected to be higher than the initial award estimate but will be brought to the board for approval.
What happens next: Both the monitoring‑well reimbursement and the Core Solutions contract were presented as completed or routed for consent. The water‑meter award will appear on the consent or regular agenda for board action the following day.
Ending: Commissioners had no additional questions; staff will bring the water‑meter contract for formal approval and will proceed with the Port reimbursement as part of the Tenant Way sale.
