Members of the North Little Rock parade committee presented trophies and described the committee taking over parade organization during the City Council meeting on Jan. 21.
Susie Jones, chairperson for the parade committee through the North Little Rock Elks Lodge, said the committee will host the parade going forward and acknowledged participants who completed the route despite rain. Committee members announced winners: Elite Motorsports received the mayor's cup; Comcast won the for-profit business category; North Little Rock High School Marching Band won best marching band; JROTC won best school organization; Meta Park Elementary won most spirited; Mayor's Youth Council was best youth organization; 501 Jeep Club was best club; Pulaski County Special School District won best decorated vehicle. The committee also announced a new storefront-decor contest for local businesses that will award a traveling "rare white elk" trophy to the winning business; this year's winner was Bridal Barley.
Jones said trophies for participants not present would be available for pickup at the lodge. The presentation included a brief photo opportunity with committee members and winners.
