Springdale council annexes two parcels: 56-acre Van Zandt property and 11-acre Wagon Wheel parcel

Springdale’s City Council on Jan. 14 approved two separate annexation ordinances that bring property from Benton County into the city.
The first ordinance annexed about 56 acres at the southeast corner of Apple Blossom Road and Highway 265 (the Van Zandt property). The council read the ordinance at second reading and adopted it with an emergency clause to take effect immediately. The city attorney cited Arkansas Code Annotated 14-40-601 in the reading.
The second ordinance accepted for annexation an 11-acre parcel along Wagon Wheel Road from Benton County into the city pursuant to Arkansas Code Annotated 14-40-609. That ordinance did not include an emergency clause and will take effect in 30 days as provided by the annexation procedure discussed on the record.
Both measures were approved by roll call (recorded as Carry 70 for each action).
The council moved item 17 earlier on the agenda to item 8B to group annexation matters for consideration; the city attorney explained the procedural adjustment at the start of the annexation discussion. No public opposition was recorded during the ordinance readings. The council welcomed the owners and representatives when the motions carried.
These annexations place the newly incorporated parcels under Springdale municipal code and city services once the effective dates apply.
