Commissioners award $349,998 contract for county jail generator to Native Energy Source

The Rogers County Board of County Commissioners voted Jan. 27 to award a bid for a 350-kilowatt dual-fuel generator and installation for the county jail to Native Energy Source for $349,998.
County staff said Native Energy Source’s bid, including the dual-fuel option, totaled $349,998. The staff presentation noted a no-bi-fuel option for the same vendor would have been roughly $331,693 and that adding the bi-fuel capability increased the price by about $20,000 — less than originally anticipated. Staff said the dual-fuel option would provide resilience in events when natural gas service is interrupted.
Commissioners voted to approve the award with the purchase to be paid out of the county’s use tax fund. The motion carried with recorded yes votes from Commissioner Delosier, Commissioner Hendricks and Commissioner Burrows.
County staff and commissioners discussed funding sources during the meeting and said the purchase would not come from ARPA funds; the presenters said the expected source would be use tax. Staff deferred to Bronson (county staff not present at the meeting) for some funding and procurement details that remained unsettled at the time of the vote.
