Rogers County approves AED replacement service contract pending county attorney review

The Rogers County Board of Commissioners voted to enter into a contract with vendor Centas for replacement automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and a monthly management program, with final execution contingent on County Attorney Wagner's contract review.

Commissioner May moved to enter into the contract; the motion carried after discussion about device features, maintenance, and pricing. Centas representatives described the ZOLL model being proposed and a service package that includes alarmed cabinets, monthly maintenance checks, pad and battery replacement after use, data download support, and optional grief counseling. Centas said a 36-month service agreement would cost $112.50 per unit per month under the quoted package; the vendor also described an approximate $250 buyback per working unit for existing devices.

County representatives said some current AEDs are expired and, while functioning, would no longer be covered by manufacturer warranties. A Centas speaker said the new ZOLL 3 unit automatically adjusts between adult and child settings and provides audible CPR-quality feedback. Centas quoted an all-in monthly price of $112.50 per unit for 36 months; for four courthouse units the vendor estimated a 36-month total of $16,200 and noted an approximate per-unit purchase price near $4,000 if bought outright.

Commissioners asked staff to inventory how many units the county needs across the courthouse, warehouses and jail and return next week with a contract document for review by County Attorney Jason Wagner. Commissioner May moved to enter the contract pending Wagner's approval; the motion passed on a roll-call vote.

Centas also said their program includes training options (which may carry separate fees) and on-call replacement units if a device is used.
