The Oklahoma County Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine and project items on Jan. 30, 2025, including minutes, a sidewalk grant agreement, maintenance-year extensions, employee recognitions, claims and a cash appropriation.
Key votes recorded during the meeting included:
• Agreement with ACOG for REIT grant funding — $313,311 to construct approximately 1 mile of sidewalks on Spencer Road near Spencer High School; approved by voice vote during the consent agenda (agenda item 11). County staff said the work "will greatly enhance the safety of the students who are walking to and from school."
• Consent agenda items 4 through 10 — approved as a block by voice vote.
• Amendment to maintenance contract — addition of a second year of maintenance at the end of an existing contract; approved by voice vote (agenda item 14).
• Employee recognitions — January 2025 employees of the month and employee-of-the-year awards were presented and approved by motion and voice vote; John Comstock was recognized for his role on a regional trunked radio public-safety communications project described at an estimated $4,400,000 and spanning multiple municipal departments.
• Claims and cash appropriation — claims were approved and the board approved a cash appropriation of $423,296.07 by recorded motion during the meeting.
• Executive session recess and return — the board recessed into executive session as moved and later returned; the chair announced, after the session, that no action was necessary on item 18.
Each of the above items was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote where recorded. The meeting notice was posted Jan. 30, 2025 and all three districts were present for the votes.
