Limestone County Commission approves routine claims, personnel moves and subdivisions; continues search for animal shelter site

Limestone County Commission members voted unanimously Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2025, to approve routine claims totaling $331,807.22, several personnel hires and transfers, budget and contract actions, and preliminary approvals for three subdivisions during a regular meeting in the Limestone County Commission chambers.

The approvals included an agreement to replace probate-office legal-document software, authorization of expenditures from the LATCF fund, a budget revision and a vet consulting contract that the commission approved pending final review by the county attorney. County Engineer Mark Massey presented three subdivision items for approval: Wingate Subdivision Phase 4 (major preliminary and final creating 81 lots in District 1), Ferguson Estate (minor preliminary and final creating two lots in District 1), and Gatlin Manor (a consolidation of four lots into two in District 3). The commission approved the subdivisions as presented.

Why it matters: the votes move forward staffing for county operations, allow contract implementation for the probate judge’s office, and clear land-planning actions that affect future residential development and infrastructure responsibilities in Districts 1 and 3.
