The Clark County Council on Jan. 29 voted to advance six applicants to interviews for one opening on the Planning Commission and approved minutes from Nov. 13, 2024, and Jan. 22, 2025.
The council reconvened from an executive session and opened nominations. Chair Marshall entertained motions to nominate applicants for interview; councilors moved and seconded a series of nominations and then voted by voice on each candidate. The nominees advanced for interview were Ron Barca; Lily Padilla; David Kornyanko; Don Stankey; Dominic (last name not specified in the record); and Kyle Fadnis.
Councilors moved and seconded each nomination in turn. Where the transcript recorded vote tallies, the council recorded a 3–2 vote to advance David Kornyanko; a 4–1 vote to advance Don Stankey; and unanimous approvals or voice ayes for the other nominees. After the sixth nomination, a motion to close nominations carried unanimously.
Separately, the council moved to approve the minutes of Nov. 13, 2024, and Jan. 22, 2025. The motion was moved, seconded and the chair declared the motion carried.
The council directed staff to notify the six applicants that they will be scheduled for interviews. No formal appointment was made at the Jan. 29 meeting; the action was limited to advancing applicants to the interview stage.
