- 2025 Real Property Tax Poverty Resolution and Guidelines — Approved. The Assessing Department asked the board to adopt updated guidelines to reflect changes in the federal income level standard used to determine eligibility for the poverty exemption. The board adopted the resolution by roll call vote.
- Fire equipment purchases — Approved. The board approved three separate equipment purchases for the fire department: 12 nozzles from MES, $9,225; two 800 MHz mobile radios from Spectrum Wireless, $13,908; and adapters for apparatus from MES, $21,071. Staff said purchases were awarded through cooperative contracts and included in the fire improvement budget.
- SMART municipal/community credit contract — Approved. The board adopted a resolution authorizing the supervisor to execute the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) municipal and community credit contract for fiscal year 2025. Mr. White of Richmond Lennox described the program and said contracts were retroactive to July 1 while negotiations continued.
- Radar speed sign policy and procedure — Approved. The township adopted a policy to install permanent solar‑powered radar speed signs on an initial set of up to three collector roads as a pilot, with data to be shared with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. Staff said 16 collector roads were eligible and, if effective, the program could expand.
- Response to Macomb County Department of Roads speed study on Hayes Road — Approved. The board approved a written response authored by Supervisor Frank Viviano objecting to a county/state speed study conclusion that would classify Hayes Road as unposted and raise the posted speed from 45 to 55 mph. The response cited Michigan House Bill 4012 (enacted April 2024) and requested supporting data for independent review.
- Consent agenda, bills and minutes — Approved. The board approved the consent agenda, the bill run and the Jan. 8 meeting minutes; all were recorded as unanimous votes.
All votes listed above were recorded as passing unanimously unless otherwise noted in the meeting minutes. The board did not adopt any ordinances at the meeting.
Ending: Several items were budgeted and described as included in existing capital or department budgets. Trustees said the speed‑sign pilot and the board’s Hayes Road response will be followed by implementation steps or further county coordination.
