Delta County opens RFP for opioid-settlement funds; grants up to $30,000 available

Delta County has an open request-for-proposals process for opioid-settlement funds, a county health official told the Escanaba City Council during general public comment Jan. 16.
Mike Snyder, health officer for Public Health Delta & Menominee Counties and an appointed member of the Delta County Opioid Task Force, said the RFP is open to nonprofit organizations, local governments, and community-based organizations operating within Delta County. Grants are available for up to $3,000 or $30,000 apiece (the transcript read "3 or $30,000" and the speaker clarified grant size in context), Snyder said, and applications are available online at www.deltacountymi.gov with a deadline of March 31.
Snyder said the grant period for awards under this round is May 1 to Sept. 30 — a five-month period — and the county expects to continue issuing similar grants in future years. He urged local entities to apply and said the county has formed a task force to oversee distribution and transparency.
