Council awards Bouquet Bridge repair contract; member says work long overdue

The Terrebonne Parish Council on Jan. 15 approved awarding the contract for hurricane repairs to the Bouquet Bridge (over Grand Caillou Road) to Lehi Construction LLC and authorized the parish president or designee to sign the contract.
Councilman Danny Babin, who moved the award, said the project “has been a long time coming” for residents of Grand Caillou and estimated the construction period could take about two years. Babin also told the council that FEMA funds would help upgrade Shrimper’s Row once the bridge is complete.
The motion to award the contract was seconded by Councilman Kevin Champine and passed by voice vote with nine ayes. Babin thanked parish staff and Royal Engineering for their work on the project. The approved action authorizes the parish administration to finalize and execute the construction contract.
