The Malibu City Council on Jan. 27 approved creation of a Palisades fire ad hoc committee to give a two‑member group authority to meet quickly with recovery partners and community groups. The body is intended to be less than a quorum of the council and to speed council‑level participation in town halls and interagency briefings.
Council appointed Mayor Pro Tem Riggins and Council member Silverstein to serve on the temporary ad hoc committee. Staff said the group will be used to coordinate briefings, provide first‑hand council feedback to staff and help ensure consistent messaging during the city’s recovery and outreach activities.
Why it matters: An ad hoc committee with two members can meet more frequently than the full council and help speed decision‑ready recommendations back to the council. Staff emphasized that any formal actions will still be brought to the full council for decision.
What’s next: The ad hoc committee will meet with staff and community stakeholders as needed and report back to the full council on its findings and recommendations.
