Wilmington High School launches athletics app; district highlights winter and fall athletic successes

Dennis Ingram, athletics director, demonstrated the new Wilmington High School athletics app during the Jan. 22 meeting and said the system consolidates schedules (synced with Arbiter), live streams via Hudl cameras, team photos and a store for gear.
Ingram said the district has about 620 students enrolled at the high school and nearly 1,000 downloads of the app. He described features including push notifications for selected teams, live-stream links from Hudl cameras in the gym and stadium, schedule updates and student-submitted photos. "It's a one-stop shopping, streamlining all the information," Ingram said.
The committee used the presentation to recognize recent athletic milestones: Ava Boudreaux reached 1,000 career points in girls basketball, Ashvin Baker won the 400-meter state championship in outdoor track and is breaking indoor records, and the girls' tennis and soccer teams earned league distinctions. The committee also acknowledged individual all-state and all-star awards in multiple sports and praised student involvement in photography and school spirit.
Committee members asked whether the app's livestreams are provided through Hudl or a partnership with local access TV; Ingram explained streams come from Hudl cameras and are shared to Hudl for coach review and to families.
Ending: Committee members suggested expanding student journalism content in the app and called for more camera placements for sports such as tennis and baseball; administrators said they would explore those additions in future capital and equipment planning.
