The Murfreesboro City Council approved a legacy recognition policy intended to honor retired city employees and called on the human-resources department to implement the program and open nominations.
Staff told the council the policy had been discussed at a recent workshop and that the packet included an updated proposal reflecting council suggestions. With council approval, HR will promote the program, begin the nomination process and plan to present the first group of honorees this fall.
The council approved the policy by roll call: Miss Aberwater, Mr. Maxwell, Vice Mayor Schacklett, Mr. Wade and Mayor McFarland voted aye. A council member who spoke praised HR staff for the work on the proposal.
