The State Board of Education recommended that Bridgeport Public Schools receive a technical assistance team and mandatory board training to address persistent academic and operational problems, the Bridgeport Board of Education was told Monday night.
Chair Christine Betis Perez read the state’s recommendations at the Jan. 27 meeting, saying the state will assign a technical assistance team to work with the district, provide board training to "improve operational efficiency and effectiveness," and may appoint a district improvement officer for up to one year if further interventions are needed. "They're kind of the board of eds to undergo training designed to improve the Bridgeport Board's operational efficiency and effectiveness," she said while summarizing the state letter.
