The Instruction & Support Services Committee referred to the full board a request from Fairchild Wheeler Aerospace Magnet High School to take an out‑of‑state field trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando for the Disney Imagination Campus STEM Engineering Experience.
David Bioso and other staff described a prior trip and the proposed focus for this year on theme‑park design and technology workshops aligned to the school’s engineering focus. The school’s new principal, who was attending remotely, confirmed the trip was consistent with board policy and that chaperone requirements had been met. “I believe we have a current roster of 18 students, which puts 3 chaperones, puts us within that, the happy range there,” the principal said.
Nut graf: Staff said the trip followed Board of Education policy 6201 for out‑of‑state trips, confirmed chaperone clearance through HR and emphasized the educational workshops students would attend. The committee voted to forward the request to the full board for final approval.
Ending: The referral will appear on the full board agenda. Staff members present said they would attend the full board meeting in person to answer additional questions.
