Lewisburg council approves multiple ordinances and resolutions; annexation and zoning items pass, parks board dissolution fails for lack of a motion

The Lewisburg City Council voted on a series of routine and land-use items at its Jan. 14 meeting. The council approved second and final readings of several ordinances, passed annexation and plan-of-service resolutions related to a Globe Road property, and approved a first reading of a zoning amendment. A separate proposal to dissolve the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (Resolution 24-1) was considered but not moved and therefore did not proceed.

What the votes mean

Land-use items: Council approved a rezoning on multiple small parcels along 5th Avenue North and accepted an annexation and plan of service for a roughly 34.47-acre Globe Road property, advancing those properties to city jurisdiction and C-2 zoning as described on the agenda.

Rates and ordinances: The council approved the water and wastewater rate adjustments and a stormwater ordinance amendment on second and final readings; those ordinances will take effect according to their published effective dates following statutory notice requirements.

Process note: Several items were moved and seconded on the floor; roll-call votes show unanimous recorded approval by the five councilmembers who participated in the roll calls.
