"Hearing nothing, I'll go ahead and make the motion, and that is I move that we approve the 3 abstracts, the 1 memorandum of understanding, the 2 agreements, the 5 amendments, the 3 purchase orders, the 4 change orders, and the 1 certification," Mr. Wilcox said before the board voted to approve the package.
Board members asked clarifying questions about change orders that exceeded 20 percent of original contract amounts. Staff identified specific cases, including a paper order showing a 132 percent change and food-service change orders tied to new meal service for additional schools; staff said those items included cover memos explaining the reasons. Members asked staff to consider visual markers in board materials to highlight large change orders.
The package passed on a roll-call vote.
