Board honors CFO Linda Hannans after more than five decades with district

The New Haven Board of Education honored Chief Financial Officer Linda Hannans on Monday, noting she will retire in June after 54 years with New Haven Public Schools.
"Miss Hannan will have completed 54 years of serving our district," Superintendent Doctor Negron said, and described Hannans' career path from student intern to chief financial officer. "She has dedicated almost an entire professional career to the New Haven Public Schools."
Colleagues praised Hannans' institutional knowledge and integrity. "She really saved us," Doctor Joyner said, recounting Hannans' leadership during a difficult period. Board members said they expect Hannans to assist with onboarding her successor before her departure.
The board also voted to approve the personnel report that included retirements and appointments. Several members voiced gratitude for Hannans' service and noted plans to post the CFO position and involve Hannans in the transition.
