The Cookeville City Council on Jan. 16 voted to award the Phase 1 contract for the West Stephen Street Improvement Project, from Hughes Street to Willow Avenue, to Rogers Group for $3,105,559.
Public Works staff said the project will regrade both sides of the roadway to provide 11-foot driving lanes, 2.5-foot curb and gutters, 2-foot grass strips, and 5-foot sidewalks. The scope also includes replacement of storm structures and piping, water and sewer improvements, and gas and electric upgrades where required. The roadway will receive a full pavement-depth replacement including base stone, binder and asphalt.
City staff reported two bids were received; Rogers Group was the low bidder. The project is budgeted in the current budget and staff recommended approval. The council approved the award unanimously, 5–0.
