Clerk Betty reported two separate temporary beer sales permit applications for on-premise consumption at the Great Hall and Conference Center, 1900 South Germantown Road. The first application — submitted for an event on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. — was presented as benefiting Carnival Memphis children’s charities. Clerk Betty said the applicant had supplied IRS paperwork and that Tennessee had already issued a liquor permit confirming nonprofit/charitable status. After a public-hearing opportunity with no speakers, Alderman Sanders moved to approve the permit; Vice Mayor Gibson seconded and the permit carried on a roll call with all voting members present recorded as yes.
