COO Jesse Eckenroll and staff said the Walton Ferry realignment project is slated to begin next week and that Saunders Ferry boat ramp is closed for construction. TDOT will manage public communications, maintain a project website with exhibits and weekly updates about closures and detours, and distribute a monthly newsletter. Staff said they would provide board members and key staff with newsletter distribution as well as post the recorded 6-minute project overview on city channels.
TDOT representatives told attendees the agency’s goal is to avoid daytime closures of Main Street where possible and to limit required closures to after-hours windows, though staff cautioned there is no absolute guarantee. City officials emphasized the importance of resident outreach and urged residents who regularly travel project corridors to check the TDOT site weekly for updates on phased impacts and closures.
City staff said they will share the TDOT website link and regularly update the public through city social media and newsletters.
