Milford Eagles defeated the Harrison Wildcats 68-42 Saturday at the Harrison High School Activity Center, announcer Bill Bretz said, handing unbeaten Harrison its first loss while Milford improved to 15-4 and Harrison fell to 16-1.
Bretz said Ally Robertson led the Wildcats with 22 points in the game. He also reported that Robertson entered the contest with 1,783 career points, 49 career double-doubles and 876 rebounds; Bretz described Robertson as “just shy of 1,800 career points” during pregame commentary. Violet Saluga led Milford with 16 points and was noted earlier in the broadcast for joining the 1,000-point club a few weeks earlier.
The game opened with Milford building an early lead and extending it through the second half. Milford led 30-20 at halftime and stretched the margin in the third and fourth quarters, using a mix of outside shooting and offensive rebounds to keep Harrison behind. The Eagles’ largest lead reached 26 points in the fourth quarter.
Harrison coach Troy Kannett, identified in the broadcast as the Wildcats’ coach in his ninth season, and Milford coach Matt Tolliver, identified as being in his fourth season at Milford, were both referenced by the announcer but did not have quoted remarks in the broadcast transcript. Bretz provided play-by-play and said Milford’s style focused on collapsing inside on Robertson when she entered the paint, then kicking out to open shooters.
Bretz also summarized postseason positioning discussed on-air: he said Harrison is considered a Division II (Region/section) contender and that Milford appears positioned among the top Division I seeds; he reported that Milford’s remaining schedule includes matchups with Turpin and Little Miami. The announcer noted Harrison had been averaging a large margin of victory coming into the game (Bretz said Harrison was 16-0 and averaging a 27-point margin before this contest).
The broadcast included play-by-play details, substitutions and foul trouble for several players; the announcer noted Harrison dealt with illness among starters during the week and that Harrison’s Maggie Setter had been out with a broken nose and expected to return in about a week. The ICRC TV production team, also announced on air, included producer/director Will Matthews and athletic director Mark Meiber at Harrison as hosts for the broadcast.
Milford 68, Harrison 42. Ally Robertson — 22 points (Harrison). Violet Saluga — 16 points (Milford). Final and other box-score details were described by the announcer on the broadcast.
