Supporters said the bill aims to refocus school displays on shared symbols and avoid what the sponsor called divisive or distracting displays. "It's uniting. It's inspiring. It's what we do," the bill sponsor, identified in the record as the Representative from District 14, said while presenting House Bill 41. The sponsor told colleagues the measure carries no civil fines and that enforcement would rest with school principals and local school boards: "This bill doesn't have any penalty. There's no $1,000 penalty. It's a shall. It's up to the principal and the school boards to enforce this."
