Organizers described the event as a monthlong, friendly competition between the two high school alumni groups to raise money for the foundation. “We have been competing to raise money to provide funding for the New Albany Floyd County Education Foundation, and we blew it out of the water,” a second staff member said.
A participating alumnus who said he grew up in New Albany described the event as a way to give back. “It's just, you know, nice to be able to, again, you know, give back, you know, a little bit of what I received whenever I was here,” he said, and noted that family members were attending the game.
Organizers said the fundraising took place over several weeks and that 100% of the funds raised “go to support students and teachers throughout our system.” They also thanked community sponsors for supporting the annual event.
