Superintendent Jacqueline highlights student achievements, community events and strategic-plan timeline

Superintendent Jacqueline used her report to thank volunteers, recognize student achievements and preview community events and district outreach.

The superintendent acknowledged DonorsChoose and unpaid volunteers who support district schools. She said the volunteers are “the most dedicated non board members” she has worked with in her career and thanked them for supporting students, teachers, staff and families.

Jacqueline summarized a January 14 community input session for the district’s next strategic plan and said the district is working toward an approval date of April 2025 for that plan. She recognized Pennwood High School track and field members who placed second in Pennsylvania and 29th nationally at a competition listed in the report. She also thanked teachers and students who participated in the regional high school art exhibition and announced two winners of a district podcast contest; a community partner, Kway Juice in Lansdowne, provided gift cards for the contest.

She invited board members and the public to several community events mentioned in the report: a Polar Plunge at Citizens Bank Park on January 31 to raise funds for Special Olympics; a modified Martin Luther King Day of Service rescheduled to Feb. 1; a Penwood Foundation dress-down fundraising day on Feb. 14 (rain date Feb. 21); and Evans Elementary’s Small Black Business Expo on Feb. 20 (vendor registration available). She also noted a local day of remembrance for the Lee family on Feb. 7 sponsored by the Borough of East Lansdowne.

The superintendent closed by encouraging board and community participation and said she would follow up with event details in future meetings.

The report contained no formal board motions; announcements were informational and to solicit volunteer participation and community support.
