The St. Mary's County Alcohol Beverage Board granted extensions of conditional approvals on Oct. 11 for two previously authorized licenses, citing ongoing construction and tenant buildout delays.
The board approved a 180‑day extension for LongHorn Steakhouse at the request of counsel. Attorney Keith Truffer told the board, “Construction of the restaurant is not complete. It's expected to be completed in November with opening in January,” and asked for the maximum 180‑day extension for a new build.
Separately, Twist Wine & Spirits requested an extension after explaining planned modifications to the premises. Owner John Joseph Winters (address provided for the record) described an addition totaling about 5,000 square feet, with roughly 1,200 square feet for Twist and the remainder intended for two additional retail storefronts. The applicant adjusted the request to a 180‑day extension to allow completion of construction and tenant fit‑out; the board approved the extension by voice vote.
Both motions carried by voice vote. The board also approved the minutes of the Sept. 13, 2012 meeting earlier in the session.
