The St. Mary's County Alcohol Beverage Board on Oct. 13, 2011 conditionally approved Robert Bradley Breese’s application to transfer a Class D beer, wine and liquor license for Stone Store Inc., 26755 Stones Corner Lane in Mechanicsville.
The transfer was approved with the condition that the county comptroller clear outstanding tax matters (a “tax release”) no later than 30 days. The board recorded the motion, received a second and voted in favor; the motion carried.
Breese, who said he recently purchased the store from Patricia Stone Oxley, told the board he does not plan major changes immediately but intends to remodel gradually, expand hours for commuters and separate on-premise and off-premise spaces in the future. “We wanna make it the little country store that doesn't look like the little country store,” Breese said. He also said the store had received “good reviews of the small changes that we have made” and that “we've painted, cleaned up the outside.”
On training and compliance, Breese said he is scheduled for a TAM class on Tuesday and that at least one current manager is TAM certified. “It is gonna be my requirement that everyone that comes to work there is TAM certified,” Breese said; he said two other employees were scheduled for the class.
Board staff confirmed there were no protests on file and that the approval is conditional on the comptroller's clearance; Breese said he expected that approval “no later than tomorrow.”
