The St. Mary's County Alcohol Beverage Board on Oct. 8, 2015 approved a 180‑day extension of the conditional license for Seaside View Bar and Grill to allow the owner time to complete building and fire‑safety work.
The extension was requested by Kevin Graham, owner/applicant for Seaside View Bar and Grill. Graham told the board the building is old and that work uncovered additional requirements: "…the extinguisher system couldn't be updated, so we had to install that…in the banquet room…the paneling has to come down. So now we have to…install sheetrock," Graham said. He asked the board for up to six months to finish renovations and gather necessary approvals from planning, zoning and the fire marshal.
Board members discussed what length of extension had been granted in similar past cases and whether other agencies had deadlines. The board administrator noted the conditional approval was subject to the facility meeting fire, health and other agency requirements. A motion to extend the conditional approval to 180 days was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The extension is conditional on compliance with prior limitations and the outstanding agency signoffs (fire marshal, health department, planning and zoning), and does not alter the requirement that final licensing steps be completed before permanent approval.
The board approved the minutes from its Sept. 10, 2015 meeting earlier in the session and then moved on to other agenda items.
