The St. Mary's County Alcohol Beverage Board on Oct. 10 granted a 90-day extension to the Action Lounge’s conditional approval, after applicants told the board they were near completion of required inspections and hoped to open by Oct. 28 or Nov. 1.
Board members approved the extension after the applicants said final inspections — including a fire-system hookup and health and fire walkthroughs — were pending. Applicant Gina Suit told the board, “We're almost a 100% waiting for final inspections,” and said the operators would call in final inspections as soon as a contractor finished work.
The board’s attorney and administrators noted the extension applied to an existing conditional approval and required no additional conditions beyond the existing approvals. Member Dave Wullenborg moved to approve the 90-day extension; member Leonard Cole seconded. The motion passed unanimously among members voting.
Applicants provided an estimated occupancy figure they had received from the fire marshal (178) and said that while some minor finish work remained, they expected to complete required items within two to three weeks. The applicants also described hiring staff and training plans; they said the point-of-sale system would help track age verification and that they planned “100% ID enforced” policies.
The board recorded no objections during the hearing. The extension permits the Action Lounge additional time to secure final inspections and any remaining clearances tied to its previously issued conditional approval.
