Jackson County commissioners on Monday voted to approve a federal transit grant application, authorize the purchase of a public-works machine, appoint a member to a county board and sign an intergovernmental jail inmate agreement.
The commission voted to approve and sign the Alabama Department of Transportation Section 5311 public transit grant application and the associated Council on Aging resolution covering Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026. County Administrator Hamrick said the grant includes federal operations, federal administrative and federal capital assistance and that the county’s local match was budgeted in the 2025 budget. "Do I have a motion to approve and sign the Alabama Department of Transportation, section 5311, public transit grant application and resolution of the council of aging?" the chair asked; commissioners voiced approval and the motion carried.
