County staff read a formal description of the CDBG program and summarized the project’s status: heating and cooling work was completed, electrical upgrades for heat pumps were complete, flooring work was finished the day before the meeting, ceilings were nearly complete and roofing work would wait until spring. The project is a pass‑through CDBG award of $621,000 to Rochester Child Care; county staff said $76,000 in contractor reimbursement requests had not yet been paid pending drawdown.
Coraline (Coral) Hoppe, executive director of Rochester Child Care, attended the hearing and did not add substantive changes to the staff summary. The board opened the hearing, solicited public comment and received no comments from members of the public or participants online. The chair closed the hearing after asking if there were questions and commissioners and staff expressed satisfaction with the pace of work given earlier vendor issues.
No motions were required; staff reminded local partners that the next round of CDBG funding (timing for which staff said might be in July) could be an option for future projects and asked interested municipalities to discuss potential applications with county staff.
