Board members instructed staff to reissue requests for proposals to secure contractors to paint Town Hall, Whitcomb Hall and other town-owned buildings.
Participants said last year’s solicitation came late and produced either no bids or quotes considered too high. Members discussed whether to issue a single contract covering multiple buildings or to allow contractors to bid on individual structures. One board member suggested wording the solicitation to allow either all-or-partial bids to attract both larger firms and smaller local contractors.
Members emphasized preparatory maintenance, including pressure-washing surfaces, so paint holds up longer. The board also discussed targeting at least the front facades first to improve curb appeal and possibly phasing the work across properties depending on available bids and costs.
No final contract award was made at this meeting; staff were directed to reissue the RFPs early to secure better pricing and to consider logistics such as vendor capacity and the option to award single or multiple contracts.
